Emergent Burnout?

Stephen's picture

Read these confessions of "burnt out" or "burning out" emergents:

[emerging church burnout|http://www.alancreech.com/2006/07/emerging-church-burnout.html]
[why I am no longer emergent|http://12ddm.blogspot.com/2006/07/why-i-am-no-longer-emergent.html]

listen carefully to their heartfelt stories and then consider this question:
Is this the end result of throwing out too many babies with the bathwater?

Like the sitcom, Seinfeld,

Like the sitcom, Seinfeld, Emergent was and is always a show about nothing. Whilst whiny narcissim is funny in a sitcom...

Like Seinfeld?

I think the original question here is of genuine concern. However, I would be careful of making judgments based on someone sharing what is on their heart. As for my post, I was feeling particularly down and that's what I was writing about. Yes, there are many "emerging" people who have problems, but I wish I had not painted all-things-emergent as the problem, because I don't think that is true or fair. And to compare it to Seinfeld... while I love the show, I think that's a bit harsh. I feel bad about the post I wrote, and I don't like to add to the thinking that 'Christians are the only kind to kill their wounded.' Just my thoughts. Looks like you have a nice site here.
peace & blessings,
