Why does this site does not engender much enthusiam? Has it had its time, and we need to move onto another platform, or just get on with it in the real world?
Sometimes there's a lot to talk about, and at other times there is little. I haven't had many thoughts related to "emerging church" lately.
Some people who have contributed here were at a meeting about peace and conscientious objection in Pretoria last week, and I've blogged about it at Tshwane Peace Group for anyone who may be interested. We've started an electronic forum and may get together again in future.
If the site is going to stay open, I would say it should just turn into a type of resource, or rather a kind of road sign that points people to different blogs / writings / events in South Africa that are relevant to the emerging church. Let the blogging happen at people's blogs, and this site can just link to those blogs, rather than let the blogging happen here.
Of course, that may mean that Roger will have to do some recoding which may not really be worth it.
Interestingly, no one else has replied so that's a pretty good pointer about the site. Well, right now I'm logged in and the system says there are five guests online. My guess is that a lot of people visit but not a lot of people comment (as has been regularly pointed out), that may be just because they're using it as a reference or a checkpoint of sorts...
You right, the lack of response to my hard-hitting comments speaks loudly enough.
I like your idea of a resource site.
A few of us emergents have moved to: http://transformnetwork.ning.com/ that has been started up by Steve Knight. We have formed a South(ern) Africa group. I would invite you but I don't have your email address.
I like it alot. I know I don't contribute much, but it's interesting content. Stuff I dont get to hear in the circles I run in that much unfortunately. I havent found a group here in the States thats as overtly dealing with these ideas. I appreciate the sight. I'm good with whatever you guys do with it. It's just refreshing and encouraging knowing these kinds of things are happening.
Thats my two cents,
Kevin

reasons
IMO there's a lack of conversation, participation and community. I'm not really active on any social networks but do lurk on a few.
dig it
